NDMA’s Humanitarian Aid to Sri Lanka: A Response in Times of Need
In a remarkable display of solidarity, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of Pakistan has dispatched a 47-member team along with 6.5 tons of essential aid to assist Sri Lanka in recovering from the devastating effects of Cyclone Ditwah. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the urgency of this mission, underscoring Pakistan’s commitment to providing support to its neighbors in times of crisis.
A Pakistan Air Force C-130 aircraft was utilized to transport this dedicated team alongside crucial supplies like family tents, blankets, ready-to-eat food, and medical necessities. The initiative gained momentum at a departure ceremony attended by notable figures, including Federal Minister Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Sri Lankan High Commissioner Fred Senevirathne. Dr. Chaudhry reaffirmed NDMA’s readiness to respond to disasters, both domestically and internationally.
