Celebrating New Beginnings: The 38th Convocation at Aga Khan University
Aga Khan University (AKU) recently held its 38th convocation, marking a significant milestone as 461 students from 18 degree programs graduated. Notably, nearly 70% of the graduates were women, showcasing a positive shift in promoting gender equality in education within Pakistan.
The day was especially important as Princess Zahra Aga Khan was formally installed as AKU’s first Pro-Chancellor. In her address, she emphasized the university’s role in improving quality of life across Pakistan and highlighted its efforts in expanding its reach to various cities and villages. This year also saw the first cohort graduate from the Bachelor of Education program at the Institute for Educational Development. Financial assistance is a cornerstone of AKU’s mission, ensuring that talented students, regardless of their financial background, can pursue education here. Last year, an impressive 72% of students received some form of financial support, making higher education more accessible.
