Crackdown on Human Smuggling: FIA Arrests 22 in Balochistan
In a significant operation, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) recently apprehended 22 individuals attempting to illegally cross into Iran through the Arabian Sea. These arrests were made in the coastal regions of Jiwani and Gabd (PB-250) in Balochistan on Monday.
The FIA spokesperson for the Composite Circle, Gwadar, revealed that the suspects were intercepted while trying to escape Pakistan via unauthorized maritime routes. Preliminary investigations indicated that these individuals had planned to enter Iran with the ultimate goal of reaching other foreign destinations through human smuggling networks.
Notably, the arrested individuals come from various provinces within Pakistan—13 hail from Punjab, 7 from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and 2 from Sindh. The FIA has confirmed that all suspects have been booked under relevant laws, and formal investigations are currently underway.
This operation underscores the FIA’s unwavering commitment to combat human trafficking, a pressing issue that endangers countless lives. Authorities are keen to remind citizens of the dangers associated with illegal immigration and to be wary of the deceptive promises made by human smuggling agents.
Unfortunately, Pakistan’s coastal belt, especially in Balochistan, has been a notorious hotspot for such illicit activities. Despite numerous crackdowns on smuggling operations, these syndicates continue to exploit desperate individuals seeking a better life.
