In exciting news for travel enthusiasts, Punjab’s Secretary for Tourism and Archaeology, Dr. Ehsan Bhutta, has recently unveiled major projects aimed at revamping the historic Hiran Minar in Sheikhupura. But that’s not all! A mini zoo is in the works, thanks to collaboration with the Wildlife Department. Plus, for those adventurous spirits, 15 bicycles and electric golf carts will be available to explore a designated three-kilometre forest path within the complex.
Additionally, Dr. Bhutta announced a new double-decker tourist bus service, making it easier than ever to connect various local attractions. The inaugural route links the shrine of Waris Shah to Hiran Minar, with plans to include the historical Bohli of Jandiala Sher Khan and Sheikhupura Fort in future expansions. To add a touch of culture, live performances of the classic Punjabi epic Heer will be showcased at the Waris Shah shrine, alongside folk music events featuring local artists at Hiran Minar. And for family outings, barbecue facilities will be available at a nominal charge. It’s shaping up to be a wholesome recreational environment for everyone involved.
