Tackling Terrorism: Recent Operations in Balochistan
In recent days, Balochistan has seen some intense operations aimed at uprooting terrorism. On October 28 and 29, the security forces launched two significant operations against the Indian proxy group, Fitna al Hindustan. The first operation took place in the Chiltan Mountains area of Quetta District, where a well-planned intelligence-based operation (IBO) led to a fierce exchange of gunfire. Fourteen terrorists were neutralized in what officials described as an effective engagement, showcasing the resolve of the forces involved.
A second operation in Buleda, Kech District, continued this momentum. Here, the forces raided a terrorist hideout and successfully neutralized four additional individuals tied to various attacks. This operation not only resulted in the loss of life for those involved in terror activities but also uncovered a cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives—further diminishing the capabilities of these groups.
In light of these successful operations, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif took the time to commend the security forces for their dedication and efficiency in combating terrorism. In his statement, President Zardari underscored the commitment to eliminating these threats under the “Azm e Istehkam” initiative. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sharif emphasized national unity in the fight against terrorism, reiterating that every form of terror must be eradicated from the country.
These operations came on the heels of a separate incident that saw an attack on the Jaffar Express, where terrorists launched rockets but were thwarted by quick action from security forces. Additionally, in another alarming incident, a grenade attack occurred on a police van in Dera Murad Jamali, injuring at least 13 people, including police officers, women, and children. These incidents highlight the ongoing threat faced by security personnel and civilians alike.
The challenges posed by terrorist activities can seem overwhelming, but the resilience shown by the security forces offers hope. Ongoing sanitization operations aim to expel any remaining threats in these regions, showcasing an unwavering commitment to safety and stability.
