Karachi Weather Update: A Drizzly Few Days Ahead
Hello, Karachiites! If you’re planning your week and are curious about what to expect weather-wise, I’ve got the scoop for you. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), our vibrant city can look forward to partly cloudy skies over the next three days, with some light drizzle likely in the mornings and evenings.
So, what’s causing this sudden shift? Low-level clouds drifting in from the sea have created this partly cloudy sky, contributing to a cool-down in temperatures. Over the last few days, we’ve already seen some drizzle in areas like Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulshan-e-Maymar, and Federal B Area to name a few. It’s like nature’s little surprise gift just when we need it!
Windy conditions are also making a reappearance, with sea breezes blowing at speeds of about 20 to 30 km/h. So whether you’re commuting to work or out for a walk, you might catch a refreshing gust as you go about your day. Expect maximum daytime temperatures to hover around the comfy range of 33°C to 35°C.
If your travels take you beyond Karachi, keep in mind that Tharparkar, Mirpurkhas, Badin, and Tando Allahyar are looking at potential light rainfall as well. On the flip side, many districts in Sindh will continue to experience the typical hot and dry weather we’ve grown accustomed to.
Now, let’s take a trip to Lahore. A new weather system is making its way into Punjab, bringing the promise of dust storms, strong winds, and some rain. This system is expected to provide a bit of relief from the oppressive heat. In Lahore, the temperatures are forecasted to range from a minimum of 31°C to a maximum of 38°C today, with dusty winds swirling around. Though the chances for significant rain are low, the folks from the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) are gearing up for pre-monsoon showers beginning this evening, anticipated to last until June 23.
Areas likely to feel the weather change include Rawalpindi, Murree, and Faisalabad, just to name a few. The southern regions of Punjab, such as Multan and Bahawalpur, could see some rainfall between June 21 and June 23.
Irfan Ali Kathia from the PDMA has confirmed that all district authorities are on high alert. As we welcome this change in weather, it’s crucial to stay safe. The PDMA advises everyone to take precautions during storms, like avoiding unnecessary travel and staying indoors. And if a thunderstorm rolls in, do find shelter!
Lastly, in case of an emergency, remember to reach out to the PDMA helpline at 1129. Planning your days around the weather can be tricky, but a little preparation goes a long way. Stay safe, and here’s hoping for a refreshing week ahead!
