Rawalpindi Traffic Enforcement: A Look at 2025’s Striking Statistics

Traffic enforcement in Rawalpindi saw a significant boost in 2025, with statistics revealing a remarkable 44% increase in overall enforcement activities. City Traffic Police issued over 1.1 million tickets for various traffic violations, leading to the collection of a hefty Rs1.1 billion in fines that have gone straight into the national treasury. It’s clear that local authorities are stepping up their game in maintaining road safety.

One of the standout statistics from the year was that more than 213,200 tickets were issued for unlicensed driving, making it the top violation. Interestingly, motorcyclists accounted for the highest number of violations overall, racking up more than 653,000 tickets. This trend underscores the need for greater awareness and adherence to safety regulations among motorbike riders in the city.

In a proactive move, enforcement against helmet violations alone led to over 204,000 tickets given to motorcyclists. Chief Traffic Officer Farhan Aslam highlighted the success of a special campaign that boosted helmet usage to an impressive 88%. Other notable violations included reckless driving and traffic obstruction, cumulatively resulting in tens of thousands of additional tickets.

Despite the uptick in enforcement, there’s good news: fatal accidents declined from the previous year, although motorcyclists continue to be disproportionately involved in road crashes. Aslam emphasized that the aim of the City Traffic Police is not merely to hand out fines but to prioritize the safety and awareness of all road users.

Looking to the future, Rawalpindi has formally rolled out an e-challan system that integrates with a modern traffic management framework. This innovative approach saw 600 challans issued within just four days of its launch, thanks to the deployment of 2,100 smart cameras across 360 locations. These cameras automatically monitor 19 different traffic violations, making enforcement more efficient and accurate.

In conclusion, as traffic enforcement in Rawalpindi evolves, it’s essential for residents to stay informed and compliant. The intent behind these initiatives is clear: fostering a safer environment for everyone on the road.
