Celebrating Eid Milad-un-Nabi: A Heartfelt Occasion in Rawalpindi

Eid Milad-un-Nabi is just around the corner, and in Rawalpindi, the atmosphere is buzzing with excitement as communities come together to honor the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Preparations are in full swing, and committees are working tirelessly to ensure a memorable celebration filled with devotion and respect.

This year, security is a top priority. More than 6,000 police officers will be stationed across the city to maintain safety during the main procession and over 105 smaller gatherings. To streamline security, walk-through gates will be set up at entry points, where participants will undergo body searches before joining the celebrations. This careful planning aims to create a safe environment for everyone involved.

The main procession is planned to wind its way through the heart of the city, including notable spots like Banni Chowk, Circular Road, and Raja Bazaar, ultimately concluding at Jamia Masjid Road. Streets and alleys along the route will be sealed to ensure smooth movement and safety. Traffic management is also being taken seriously, with more than 530 traffic officers dedicated to the smooth flow of vehicles and participants.

CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani emphasized that safety measures are in place with surveillance from Safe City cameras and additional monitoring from snipers on rooftops. This level of preparedness highlights the community’s commitment to celebrating with peace and respect.

The festivities kick off with an inaugural ceremony at 11 AM outside the historic Jamia Masjid, led by Vice President of the Milad Committee, Hafiz Hassan Fareedi. Attendees will include local officials, religious leaders, and members of the Central Milad Committee. It’s set to be a power-packed event, though musical Naat groups and large vehicles have been banned from the procession to maintain a focused, reverent atmosphere.

Celebrations extend beyond Rawalpindi. Leaders like President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have extended their greetings to the nation, calling for a renewal of commitment to the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH). They urged citizens to reject prejudice and extremism, promoting unity, harmony, and empathy among all.

As we prepare for this sacred occasion, gatherings will abound at both government and private venues, where Naat reciters will pay tribute to the life and teachings of the Prophet (PBUH). It’s a time for reflection and community bonding, an essential part of our cultural fabric.
