Hamza’s Unstoppable Century Leads Pakistan U-19s to Victory Over India in Asia Cup
In an electrifying match, Hamza Zahoor’s remarkable unbeaten century propelled the Pakistan Under-19 cricket team to a thrilling three-wicket victory against their arch-rivals, India, in the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup. Playing at the picturesque Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman, the young Green-shirts chased down a target of 209 runs with 11 balls to spare, solidifying their position in the semi-finals.
Zahoor’s stellar performance, scoring 100 not out off 108 balls, showcased not only his skill but also his ability to remain calm under pressure. After a rocky start with Pakistan losing wickets at regular intervals, Hamza anchored the innings beautifully, hitting ten boundaries and three sixes. His resilience was crucial—without his poise, the outcome could have been very different.
In a noteworthy partnership, Hasnain Abbas Dar provided vital support, scoring 38 runs in a sixth-wicket stand that helped stabilize a shaky innings. At one point, Pakistan found themselves in a perilous position at 61 for 5, but the composure of Zahoor and Dar brought the team back on track.
Earlier, India set a respectable target, finishing their innings at 208 all out in 46.3 overs. Arjun Rajput stood out for India with a solid 107 runs from 85 balls, but his efforts were not enough to secure victory. Pakistan’s bowling attack was relentless, with Ali Raza, Rizwanullah, and Niqab Shafiq each claiming three wickets to keep India in check.
As the tournament progresses, this win marks Pakistan’s second consecutive victory in Group A, providing a much-needed boost for the young team. They are now gearing up to face Nepal in the next match, with the spirits high and confidence soaring.
