Attack in Khuzdar: Cowardice that Can’t Shake Community Spirit
Late Friday night, a terrifying incident unfolded in Khuzdar’s Do Talwar area when seven security guards were injured, thanks to a grenade attack directed at the residence of senior political figures Agha Shakil Ahmed Durrani from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Senator Agha Shazeb Durrani from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). This frightening display of violence aimed to disturb the peace of the community, but fortunately, no lives were lost.
According to SSP Khuzdar, Shehzada Umar Abbas Babar, the grenade was hurled at the outer wall of the Durranis’ residence. Thankfully, the injuries sustained by the guards were minor, and they were quickly taken to Khuzdar Teaching Hospital, where they’re expected to recover fully. Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti condemned the attack, labeling it an act of terrorism that would not deter the resolve of the people or their leadership. He urged law enforcement agencies to act swiftly in investigating and bringing those responsible to justice. The political context surrounding the attack has added fuel to the fire, with Agha Shakil Ahmed Durrani suggesting that this act may be a conspiracy orchestrated by political rivals. He emphasized, "We are the party of martyrs, and such attacks cannot intimidate us."
