Celebrating the 26th Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Holy Quran Competition: A Community Affair
The Dubai International Holy Quran Award has recently launched the final round of the preliminary phase for the much-anticipated 26th edition of the Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Holy Quran Competition. This event, running until October 23rd at the Award’s headquarters in Dubai, brings together a remarkable group of male and female Quran memorizers from various emirates across the UAE.
This annual competition shines as one of the most significant Quranic initiatives, aiming to promote noble Islamic values and encourage individuals to memorize and deeply reflect on the meanings of the Holy Quran. By embodying the UAE’s vision of being a global hub for Quranic education, it serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of faith and community.
With more than 1,660 participants already registered—868 males and 798 females—the turnout has been nothing short of spectacular. Among the 1,514 participants who met the eligibility criteria, we see a near-even split of 52% males and 48% females, illustrating the engagement from all segments of society, both nationals and residents alike.
The diversity of participants, hailing from 55 different nationalities—including a significant number of Emiratis—beautifully showcases the multicultural tapestry of the UAE. It’s heartwarming to see such varied backgrounds coming together with a shared purpose: to engage in Quranic events celebrating their faith.
Ibrahim Jassim Al Mansoori, the Acting Director of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award, noted that this year’s competition has drawn unprecedented participation. The commitment to Quranic culture resonates across age groups, reflecting the community’s eagerness to uphold their spiritual heritage.
One of the exciting advancements this year is the use of technology in the evaluation process. Contestants’ memorization and recitation are assessed in real-time, ensuring fairness and transparency. This not only levels the playing field but also enhances the overall experience for both participants and spectators, allowing talents to shine in an ideal environment.
As the competition unfolds, it not only reinforces the essence of Quranic education but also celebrates the noble initiatives spearheaded by Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum. This commitment to uplifting the spiritual fabric of society continues to solidify Dubai’s standing as a prominent center for the Holy Quran and its sciences.
