Pakistan’s Firm Stance: Lessons from Marka-e-Haq

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently made waves while addressing UK-based Pakistani journalists in London. He boldly declared that Pakistan taught India a “lesson it will remember for life” during a significant military operation known as Marka-e-Haq. This operation, officially recognized as Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, was launched in May 2025 in response to escalating Indian aggression.

The operation culminated in what the Pakistani government proudly described as a “decisive victory.” The military showcased exceptional discipline and strategic clarity, successfully repelling adversaries. Following this achievement, May 10 has been designated as Youm-e-Marka-e-Haq, a day to honor the sacrifices and performance of the armed forces during this pivotal conflict.

While discussing defence strategies, PM Shehbaz talked about Pakistan’s cooperation with Saudi Arabia. He emphasized that this partnership is not aimed at antagonizing any nation but rather reflects decades of mutual trust. Such pacts are crucial as they underline the importance of solidarity in a region often marked by tension.

In his address, he noted the significance of close civil-military coordination, underscoring his regular consultations with the Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, on matters regarding national interest and foreign policy.

Turning to economic issues, PM Shehbaz shared optimistic news about Pakistan achieving macroeconomic stability, especially amid the challenges posed by recent floods. He highlighted government initiatives aimed at poverty alleviation, reducing unemployment, and attracting investment — particularly in sectors such as agriculture, IT, and minerals. "Friendly countries are ready to extend full support to Pakistan in harnessing its natural resources,” he stated, reflecting a positive outlook on future collaborations.

The Prime Minister also reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism, ensuring that the sacrifices of the security forces are never forgotten. Importantly, he highlighted his advocacy for the oppressed Kashmiris and Palestinians on global platforms like the United Nations, bringing much-needed attention to their plight.

Before concluding, PM Shehbaz emphasized his government’s achievements as the result of "sincerity, hard work, and team effort." He remains focused on sustaining growth and further engaging with international partners to foster development in key sectors.
